Tap Lanes is a one tap neon runner made for quick duels on a single screen. Split the screen with a friend, and each of you steers your own ball down a glowing 2 lane road in 60 second rounds, with the first player to win 2 rounds taking the match. Every tap switches lanes, every obstacle you pass is a point, and a last second dodge counts as a close call worth 1 extra point. Tap Lanes is a free ball game you play in your browser on phones, tablets and computers.
In 2 Players mode the screen splits in half. Player 1 plays on the top half and Player 2 on the bottom half, both rolling down the same road at the same time. On a keyboard, Player 1 uses W, or A and D, while Player 2 uses the up arrow, or the left and right arrows. Each round lasts 60 seconds, the first to win 2 rounds takes the match, and a rematch starts straight away.
No friend nearby? Race mode puts you against a computer rival on Easy, Normal or Hard. The rival shows up as a ghost ball with its own name and flag on your road, and the rounds follow the same rules: 60 seconds each, first to 2 wins.
Player 1: W or A and D
Player 2: UP ARROW or LEFT and RIGHT ARROW
Your ball rolls forward on its own, and all you decide is which lane it uses. Each obstacle you pass adds 1 point, and switching at the very last moment scores a close call for a bonus point. Tapping again in the middle of a switch sends the ball smoothly back, so a wrong move can still be saved. The road picks up speed and starts to curve the longer you last, and new obstacles join one at a time with a "New obstacle!" warning: spikes, walls, crystal shards, bars, spinning saws, laser gates and floating mines. They arrive at uneven gaps, so a run comes down to reflexes rather than memorizing a pattern. Your very first run pauses before the opening obstacles to show you how switching works.
Gems sit in the lanes during every run and pay for new looks. There are 23 balls to collect, 19 bought with gems, such as Disco, Planet and Rainbow, plus 4 rank balls called Comet, Nova, Quasar and Legend that come from Missions. 15 road styles change the track itself, from Classic and Synthwave to Honeycomb and Aurora. A gift of 30 gems arrives every 3 hours, any item can be tried for 3 runs before you buy it, and gems are only earned in the game. Daily, weekly and all time leaderboards show the top 50 scores.
The whole game wears a neon synthwave look: a road of glowing rails that curves and banks, a striped retro sun on the horizon and a color that slowly shifts through each run. A crash shatters the ball in slow motion, the menu plays a calm arpeggio and runs switch to driving synthwave. A Reduce motion setting softens the camera tilt for players who prefer a steadier view.
